7.6. Initializing a Database Cluster

To initialize a cluster, select a Database Cluster in the Summary Area, then choose Init => Initialize Main Storage Area. A dialog appears that enables you to select the engine to be used for cluster initialization and to set options such as encoding.

The data in the Cluster's databases is erased but the Host-based Authentication and Run-time Options (except for Port Number and TCP/IP enabling) are preserved. When initializing with an engine of a different version, you should review these settings afterwards. To remove both the data and the configuration settings, stop the Cluster, delete it, and recreate it with the New Cluster feature (refer to Section 7.3 Creating a Database Cluster).
