XPath question

This is okay because the ResourceID attribute value is hard-coded
Set objNodeList =
objXMLDoc.selectNodes("//DAvailability/DefaultAvail[@ResourceID = '10']")

I have an integer variable named r_iResourceID

I tried doing this
Set objNodeList =
objXMLDoc.selectNodes("//DAvailability/DefaultAvail[@ResourceID =
'$r_iResourceID]")
didn't work.

Please help
