Err, that was meant to be the *stylesheet* element - there was an

Yes, it probably is better - when I hopped into this thread I'd
forgotten that David Carlisle and others had already investigated the
area.

So now all you need to do is come up with an XML grammar for your
metadata.
I'd be interested in trying this in RDF as a tutorial exercise...
