I have the opportunity to apply for some funding to develop an XSL
transformation engine similar to XT, Saxon, et al. The goal is to create
a fully conforming engine that achieves high performance through
fine-grained multithreading, intelligent (pre)compilation of the XSL
stylesheet, good memory management, etc. I will build on the wonderful
work that has gone before to the degree I can, but the focus will be on
performance. Licensing issues are undecided at this point.
Frankly I am more experienced in the implementation side of this than I
am in XSL itself, but part of my proposal must address the market for
such an engine, either as a standalone application or as a component of
another application.
Does anyone have some (pointers to) information about the potential
market that I can use?
Thanks,
Michael Laing
