Try the FAQ at http://www.dpawson.co.uk. This was just discussed at
huge length on the list, finishing only a few days ago, and it wouldn't
surprise me if Dave has already snarfed the four(?) distinct solutions
that were offered here.
You could also try the list archive, but it has been broken for a while,
which is unfortunate at times like these.
In case none of those works, here is probably the neatest of the
proffered solutions, which came from Mike Kay.
<xsl:template match="field[position() mod 3 = 1]" priority="2">
<tr>
<td><xsl:value-of select="."/></td>
<td><xsl:value-of select="following-sibling::field[1]"/></td>
<td><xsl:value-of select="following-sibling::field[2]"/></td>
</tr>
</xsl:template>
<xsl:template match="field" priority="1"/>
