question about kernel debug

Subject: question about kernel debug

Hello,

I am trying to get systemtap installed on SLES 10 SP 2.

One thing I am not clear about is do I need to boot into a debug
kernel or only the debuginfo must be on the machine that corresponds
to my running non-debug kernel.
