This bug should be fixed in our git commit b818f04.

To the extent that pass-4 errors represent internal rather than user
errors, more verbosity like this may make sense.
I didn't see your first note, when you mentioned that you have had
difficulties with getting systemtap to run. What other problems have
you had?
