Bug ID: 23172
Summary: miq_NI: Provide actually abbreviated month names
Product: glibc
Version: 2.28
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: localedata
Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
Reporter: digitalfreak at lingonborough dot com
CC: libc-locales at sourceware dot org
Target Milestone: ---
In Miskito language the abbreviated month names (abmon) are not really
abbreviated:
$ LC_ALL=miq_NI.utf8 locale -k mon
mon="siakwa kati;kuswa kati;kakamuk kati;lî wainhka kati;lih mairin kati;lî
kati;pastara kati;sikla kati;wîs kati;waupasa kati;yahbra kati;trisu kati"
$ LC_ALL=miq_NI.utf8 locale -k abmon
abmon="siakwa kati;kuswa kati;kakamuk kati;lî wainhka kati;lih mairin kati;lî
kati;pastara kati;sikla kati;wîs kati;waupasa kati;yahbra kati;trisu kati"
This may lead to confusion and ambiguity if there is a limited space to display
the month name, for example in `ls -l' command. I'm not telling how short the
abbreviated name should be, just please make them shorter because the longest
is 15 chars long.
Unfortunately, Miskito is not supported by CLDR so there is no place where I
can copy from.
