One alternative would be to change the following two contructs to use memcpy() instead: *(char **) raw_arc[nfilled].from_pc = (char *) frompc; *(char **) raw_arc[nfilled].self_pc = (char *)_gmonparam.tos[to_index].selfpc; That way we preserve the binary format and I don't think the overhead is noticable on other architectures presuming gcc will catch the fixed sized memcpy's. If thats ok with you, I'll cook up a patch straight away. Jes
