Hi,
I think I've checked in all the changes I got. If you find something
missing please resubmit the patch.
I have not addressed the chown stuff. I leave this completely to the
port maintains. I.e., Andreas has to decide for m68k, Richard/Dave
for SPARC, Richard(again) for Alpha, Geoff for PPC and Philip for ARM.
I won't do anything if they don't agree and I urge the Debian people
again to not use any patch which leads to incompatible libraries.
I checked in today a bit more character set stuff. The important
thing is ISO-8859-15. If somebody asks you now whether Linux/Hurd is
ready for the European Common Currency say: yes. This charset
contains the Euro symbol.
And now a problem. Since I have the SMP machine in my office I found
occsionally problems with ex3 and ex6 in the LinuxThreads test. The
programs simply don't terminate occsionally. With my new home machine
I see the same but much more frequently. I guess you need a fast SMP
machine to see the problem (which of course would mean we have a race
somewhere). I think HJ has 2x 180MHz PPro (right?) and this is
probably not fast enough. At least I haven't heard any complains from
him.
I'll investigate this bug since it might also be the reason for some
of the vague thread-related bug reports I got over time.
