Yes, the problem that Red Hat has is that there is no reasonable way
to upgrade a system currently using /var/spool/mail to use /var/mail
instead. Consider /var/spool/mail and /var being in different
partitions.
It's Just Not Possible to have all updates be as automatic as RedHat,
Debian, and I would like. It's Just Not Possible.
Sometimes more careful work, by the actual user, has to be done. I
certainly hope that the distribution makers haven't lied to their
customers and promised that they'd never need to do something
themselves, but it does happen.
