This is already done, by applications outside glibc. For example, thetzselect program (part of of the tzcode distribution) lets you listtzdata names alphabetically, or in order of distance from your location,or geographically. Other commonly-used time zone selectors do somethingfancier, e.g., based on <http://efele.net/maps/tz> shapefiles. None ofthese selectors are based on the recently-removed glibc localeinformation, or would benefit from reverting the removal.
