IKt's always a problem since their is no way to restrict what the
callback does.  The whole reason why the LD_AUDIT approach works is that
the callbacks operate completely independently in their own namespace
with their own C library etc.  Relaxing that requirement would just lead
to unimaginable chaos.  The next step would be people demanding that all
the sick ways they want to use the callbacks are working.  I have no
interest in opening that Pandora's box.
