soname in libm

Hi!

Is the soname in libm.so.6 a Linuxism (like in libc.so.6)?

I noticed that i386-gnu uses libm.so.6, but the initial port of Glibc for
i386-kfreebsd-gnu Bruno Haible made sets the soname libm.so.1.

Is that correct?
