socket error

Sorry to bother you, but I got serious problems regarding
sockets and didn't know who to ask, so i ask you =)
the problem:
Feb 13 20:47:03 Cruelty pppd[5462]: Plugin /usr/lib/pppd/plugins/pppoe.so
loaded.
Feb 13 20:47:03 Cruelty pppd[5462]: PPPoE Plugin Initialized
Feb 13 20:47:03 Cruelty pppd[5464]: pppd 2.4.0 started by root, uid 0
Feb 13 20:47:03 Cruelty pppd[5464]: Failed to create PPPoE socket: Address
family not supported by protocol
Feb 13 20:47:03 Cruelty pppd[5464]: Exit.
So, i got NO clue, why i get this socket error, do you?
i hope that was short enough! if you can't help me, who could?
