I've retried it about 5 times with exactly the same results. Platform is current version of RedHat. Kawa source is as per CVS plus your List sort patch. In both cases I use --with-java-collections. But if I do
configure --with-java-collections --enable-kawa-frontend ; make clean ; make ; make install then define-simple-class is an unbound symbol. But
configure --with-java-collections ; make clean ; make ; make install then define-simple-class works fine.
