I'm confused. Why can you not use --prefix and --exec-prefix? I've never even heard of the DESTDIR hack before.
Also, this patch and the one in 296 modify Tcl -- which comes from upstream sources. I am really hesitant to maintain sourceware-local changes without sufficient justification.
Convince me. :-)
