Upon closer inspection, I noticed that SCM_UNSPECIFIED and
SCM_UNDEFINED are different, and I would suspect that #<unspecified>
is SCM_UNSPECIFIED and not SCM_UNDEFINED. Sorry for the confusion. My
suggestion was really to have assq-ref return #<undefined> , but
apparently #<undefined> can not be created inside the interpreter.
(What happens if a GUILE function returns SCM_UNDEFINED to the
interpreter?)
