I'm leaning towards Spencer's code as well. Previous discussion on the list was my own fluff-headed uneducated fear of lawyers. The pronouncement from Our Fearless Leader is that it's okay to use independent libraries with GNU-friendly licenses, even if they're not GPL. Also --- Spencer's new revision supports UTF-8, which is where I think Guile wants to go. Ergo: go for it, dude.
