I had hopes of finding something useful in the other (missing) docs that were mentioned, but have come to the conclusion that there probably isn't a better way lurking in the present implementation (especially, given some of the recent comments to that efffect). If the 'C as the master world' model is of interest, I would hope that something along the lines of the Tcl API would come about.
