Eigenvalues/vectors of Hermitian matrices

- Subject: Eigenvalues/vectors of Hermitian matrices
I have installed gsl-1.0. When doing make check, i get many failure
messages in the eigensystem tests, all concerning eigen analysis of
hermitian matrices. The messages are of the form:
FAIL: herm(4), eigenvalue(2,3), real, val/asc (0 observed vs
9.74766689339349166e+127 expected)
or similar. All of the tests for real symmetric tests seem to pass.
I have done the install on three similar RedHat 7.2 systems, and also tried
to install gsl-1.1, all with the same result.
kernel 2.4.7-10 and 2.4.9-13
gcc 2.96-98
