recompiling pthread library

HI,
I have a application that uses both svgalib and
pthreads.
I have problems running this application because
both svgalib and pthreds use SIGUSR1 and SIGUSR2.
I'm running glibc 2.2.2. Is there any way od
recompiling only the pthreads portion of glibc rather
than the whole of glibc.
