I was unable to replicate the behaviour on a ubuntu-14.04 installation running
on a qemu virtual machine.  The VM was set up with 4 cores, and I compiled and
installed glibc-2.23, built on gcc-4.8.2.

Nothing interesting appeared in a callgrind run either.
