Bug ID: 16578
Summary: pthread_setname_np 16 char limit seems small compared
to other platforms
Product: glibc
Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: libc
Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
Reporter: gziemski at mac dot com
CC: drepper.fsp at gmail dot com
pthread_setname_np 16 char limit seems small compared to other platforms
pthread_setname_np name length limits on platforms:
- Mac v10.5 64 chars
- Solaris v12 32 chars
- Linux glibc v2.12 16 chars
Linux 16 characters limit (15 excluding null byte) on length of string allowed
in pthread_setname_np seems small compared to other platforms. It would be nice
if it were at least 32 chars, or even 64 as on Mac (BSD?)
