As I said, I did try that; no dice:
ls -l ../gdb
-rwxr-sr-x 1 ppluzhnikov procmod 4075816 Aug 10 20:21 ../gdb
../gdb -ex run ../a.out
...
Unable to find Mach task port for process-id 98439: (os/kern) failure (0x5).
(please check gdb is setgid procmod)
