Just think about mingw. I wasn't able to get dwarf2 working, I had
to rever back to stabs to debug a C++ program.

Cygwin is still using a version of 3.4.5.

There are platforms that will require a significant amount of work, to
port gdb nicely too. Just some thoughts.
