protocol change (I should have said extension) here:

And proposed a patch that makes gdbserver build again on WinCE
(without remote protocol extensions) here:

I'd like that at least the later went into GDB6.8, so I've added a
link to the patch to the wiki.  Thanks Joel for putting the issue
there for me in the first place.
