Can gdb work for CC and CC -compat=4 on Sun Solaris 7/8?

Dear gdb experts:
Question !
I used "CC -g" and "CC -compat=4 -g" on my SunOS 5.8 workstation, and
I tried to use gdb but no work.
It alwas work when I use gcc and g++. However, my project need "CC
-compat=4" to build it, g++ has trouble to build it.
Is there any body can help me out, please?
