   Has anyone modified GDB to support post mortem analysis (core dumps)
   on embedded targets?

A timely question!  In fact Cygnus recently got a contract to do just
that for ELF-format corefiles.  David Taylor (taylor@cygnus.com) is
working on this as we speak, hopefully he'll post here with more
details as things develop.
