GDB Snapshot 19990525 Now Available
The following files are now available at

I have also imported this snapshot into the GDB CVS repository. You can
browse the CVS repository over the web via this URL:
http://sourceware.cygnus.com/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/gdb/?cvsroot=gdb
Sourceware.cygnus.com only allows 20 simulatenous connections and I
know people have had trouble getting through. There are half a dozen
mirrors of the entire sourceware ftp repository on the net. Three of
them (sunsite, unina, and funet) have already picked up this snapshot,
the rest will undoubtedly pick it up soon. You can see the full list
of sourceware mirrors at
http://sourceware.cygnus.com/mirrors.html
SNAPSHOT NOTE:
I want to change the snapshot procedure to provide bzip2'ed binaries
instead of .gz binaries. The 11.6MB gdb-19990525.gz snapshot is only
9MB bzip2 compressed. You can get bzip2 source or prebuilt binaries
for any platform from the web page http://www.muraroa.demon.co.uk/
bzip2 has seen wide usage for a while now and has proven to be reliable.
As people may have noticed, we are pushing our net connection quite
hard right now. Increased use of the mirrors will help, but if simple
measures like using bzip2 for compression will save even more.
If someone has a concern or real objection to this, please speak up now.
I'm assuming that it is a minor inconvenience for snapshot users to
install bzip2, and the benefit to all of us by freeing up bandwidth
is obvious.
If I hear no objections, the next snapshot will be available exclusively
in bzip2 format.
