Ubuntu was recently updated with a new version of gdb:
GNU gdb (Ubuntu 7.99.90.20170502-0ubuntu1) 7.99.90.20170502-git
I repeated the same test with the same crash and I'm still observing the same
behavior of gdb hanging and using 100% CPU.
