[Bug tdep/17233] New: possible bug in amd64-tdep.c:fixup_riprel

https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=17233

            Bug ID: 17233
           Summary: possible bug in amd64-tdep.c:fixup_riprel
           Product: gdb
           Version: HEAD
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: tdep
          Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
          Reporter: tromey at redhat dot com

I tried -Wunused-but-set-variable and it reported
some code in amd64-tdep.c:fixup_riprel:

  int32_t disp;
[...]
  /* Compute the rip-relative address.    */
  disp = extract_signed_integer (insn, sizeof (int32_t), byte_order);

"disp" is never used.
It seems that this could be a real bug.
However if not it would be clearer to remove the unused
variable and add a comment explaining why there's no need
to do this.
