OK, you are right; GCC has built it as x32 but the kernel executes it as
x86_64:
$ file x32
x32: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), statically linked,
not stripped
(gdb) disas

(gdb) p/x $sp
