Same happened here but gcc is version 3.3.3
I saw others reporting this bug for gcc 3.4, too.
uname -a:
SunOS regen 5.8 Generic_117000-03 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R
The workaround (comment out the call to dwarf2_build_frame_info in elfread.c) seems to work.
