The Makefile.in files in the GDB project do not use the
DESTDIR makefile variable, which is useful to do staged
installations. Such installations are themselves
necessary to build RPM packages.
If DESTDIR were used, I would be interested in contributing
and maintaining an RPM .spec.in file for GDB.
