I have been seeing these kind of misses by my own GCC, too.  Doug
already pointed me to a similar bug (which I could not reproduce):

And I could also not reproduce John's report.

I'm using:

gcc (GCC) 4.6.3 20120306 (Red Hat 4.6.3-2)
