An upstream BFD problem, on which this patch depends, wasn't resolved. Consequently, there there was no reason to review the patch - Roland should be aware of this since it was Roland's upstream BFD change that wasn't resolved.
What is unresolved?  My bfd_elf_bfd_from_remote_memory implementation was
approved and committed to bfd in May.  The code in the current binutils cvs
works fine for me as the basis for the gdb patches I have recently posted.

See Elena's pointer into that thread.

That code, in its current form, can only be described as a "work in progress".
