We are trying to get them to talk to us so we can get this and some
other issues solved. ARM has their own tools though, so Free Software
may be seen as competition. But I know people want to buy ARM boards and
yet run GNU tools, so there is still hope they become more cooperative
at some point.

Don't feel sorry. Many of us have ARM boards (or boards with the
ARM Angel monitor on it) and we are only able to use GDB on it
because the rdi-share directory is in there. This protocol is
hard to implement and it would take a while until someone would
contribute one written from scratch.
