Why? The info files should be up-to-date in the distribution (this is
mandated by the GNU Coding Standards), so most users will never need
to run texinfo. I don't think it is a big deal to make people who do
need to run it use whatever version we tell them to (as a practical
matter they often must do this anyway).

Is that the official target kernel? I still run 2.0.34 (!) and an
unpatched gdb doesn't work on my box.
