I don't think anyone is trying to co-ordinate things. People are just
trying to keep them within calling distance.
BTW, is there a reason for not wanting -fPIC on AIX?

PS: Yes, ok with me. Per src/MAINTAINERS send the patch once committed
to both binutils@sourceware and gdb-patches@sourceware.
