- Subject: frysk and Java 1.5 and Java-GNOME 4.0
Hello,
These two topics keep coming up, typically as off list (other irc or
other mailing list). Here's the standard answer.
Q #1: Can frysk be built with a Free Java 1.5 compiler?
Since Fedora Core 7 will ship with Java 1.5, frysk will be built with that.
Q #2: Can frysk use Java 1.5 features?
No, not yet. The main problem is that no current distros include the
Free Java 1.5 compiler. Once that situation improves frysk can switch.
Q #3: When will frysk switch to Java-GNOME 4.0?
The intent is to first adopt Java 1.5 and then adopt Java-GNOME 4.0.
That should give the new Java-GNOME bindings ample time to settle.
