Do you have to keep reference of the ATK object as long as you keep reference to the Widget object? (I assume so).

Sorry that was wrong, you don't use the constructor, instead you use the
widgets getAccessible() method.

So the code looks like:

AtkObject obj = widget.getAccessible();
obj.setName("My Name");

I am in the process of putting this all up on the website, should be up
shortly.
