Sounds like a good idea to me. Shouldn't it be best to make it a
configuration option, like with CRC checksum tables ?

If something is never going to change, there's no problem marking it const. If it's initialised data it will be occupying space in Flash anyway - the question is only whether it occupies space in RAM as well.


Øyvind, please do feel free to submit a patch to do this. I doubt there would be any problem accepting it.
