- Subject: [ECOS] Beginner Question: Porting eCos to Beagleboard
Hello Everyone,
I've been given a task to install a working eCos to Beagleboard with
u-boot bootloader from memory card and now I've come to a dead end. As
eCos still doesn't have support for Beagleboard, OMAP3530 or even
Cortex-A8, I tried using different packages (I heard that ARMv6 is like a
subset of ARMv7 instruction set). As one can imagine, I failed.
Previous mails in this mailing list didn't give a clear image, is this
task even possible, has someone succeeded using eCos on Cortex-A8. So now
I assume no one has done it and now I would have to make a proper port for
it.
Is porting difficult? Can it be done in a time span of few days/weeks when
it's done by one person without prior knowledge of the target or the OS?
Porting Guide from eCos reference manual seemed somewhat straightforward,
but as usual, 90% of effort goes to 10% of tasks, which are invisible from
documentation.
Best Regards,
Tatu
