Using minicom:
^A-o
Serial port setup
...
Or prepare
cat >~/.minicom.redboot <<EOF
pu port /dev/ttyS0
pu baudrate 38400
pu bits 8
pu parity N
pu stopbits 1
pu rtscts No
EOF
and then run minicom as 'minicom -o redboot'
To check the settings
$ stty -a -F /dev/ttyS0 ;# man stty, man minicom.
