Yes, using the Virtual Vector interfaces eCos applications can access FIS images.

That said, for anything more complicated than [very] simple access,
I would suggest using JFFS2 which is a full-featured file system
that can be used by both eCos programs and RedBoot [and Linux as
well]

Look at the "FLASH Image System" component of RedBoot
