eCos interrupt overhead (eb40a)

I'm working with a eb40a and i want to have a fast timer (10uS).
Working in RAM mode, i can't get periodic interrupts faster than 15uS aprox.
(using Timer 1 or Timer 2 of the atmel AT91 processor)
Working in ROM mode, can't get faster than 150uS aprox.
EB40a ecaluation board has a 66MHz oscillator. I thing that it should be
enough to have faster interrupts.
¿eCos have such an interrupt overhead? ¿am i doing something wrong?
Thanks
