Re: minimal ecos memory requirements on mips

Hi Adrian,

I recenlty built this redboot configuration: Redboot packages for MIPS 4Kc with Flash driver, RLT8139 driver & TCP/IP stack.

[root@localhost bin]# mipsisa32-elf-size redboot.elf
text data bss dec hex filename
132080 2508 56248 190836 2e974 redboot.elf

Hope this helps!
-Mike.

Subject: [ECOS] minimal ecos memory requirements on mips
Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 13:13:10 -0700

I am thinking about using ecos for a really small system using
a mips 4kp.

I would be using just the HAL with 2 drivers of the complexity
of an ethernet driver, the flash driver, and the serial driver.
I don't need TCP/IP.

I do have very strict available memory, so I am wondering if
anyone has any experience with how much memory would such system demand.
I was thinking that it would be similar to redboot requirements,
so maybe someone has numbers for how much dram redboot requires
on a mips 4k(c or p)?

Also, anyone has any experience runing ecos on a mips 4kp? Anything
to watch out for?

thanks

adrian
