weirder and weirder

Ethernet issues, and yes I've looked through the archives and the interesting bit was this message:
<http://sources.redhat.com/ml/ecos-discuss/2003-01/msg00097.html>

which talked about putting redboot in "chatty" mode. Which I did with the configtool, and Redboot still said "No network interfaces found". So I enabled PCI diagnostics and then it did not print the 'no network interfaces found' message at all and the prompt now has a '7' character stuck after it, (if I delete it, it comes back) guess its time to learn how to debug redboot :-)

For reference, I'm using the redboot.ecc that came off the CDROM with the book, no changes (other than turning on a couple of flags.)

Using the redboot.bin from the cd directly gives me no output on the screen and it appears to be trying to start a GDB session on COM1 sigh.
