The FreeBSD and OpenBSD stack both originate from the same parent
code. The FreeBSD port is more up to date and so should have less
bugs. The FreeBSD port also has IPv6. But as you have found it, it
lacks bridge support.

The original FreeBSD sources do support bridging, but the feature was
removed when the port to eCos was performed. It should be straight
forward to put the bridge code back in again. That would be my
suggestion and use the OpenBSD cdl as a template as to how to add it
to the FreeBSD cdl files.
